AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN IMPROVING ACCESS TO PRIMARY CARE SERVICES 

This award celebrates excellence in improving access to primary care health services to promote, restore and maintain health by addressing one or more of these access delays;

1 Delay in deciding to seek medical care.

2 Delay in reaching a health facility.

3 Delay in receiving adequate care at the health facility. 

Entries are open to health facilities, Pre-hospital care providers, Community Health Units, County Governments and other organizations in the health sector including NGOs.

Entry Guidelines 

  1. State the access delay(s) addressed.
  2. Brief introduction.
  3. Clearly defined goals and objectives.
  4. The beneficiaries.
  5. Strategies used to achieve the objectives.
  6. Achievements in relation to set objectives/outcome.
  7. Impact on healthcare.
  8. State the duration of the initiative. (Start date, end date or ongoing)
  9. Health Facilities will be required to download and fill out a Quality Healthcare Self-assessment Scorecard HERE. The quality assessment tool was derived from the Kenya Quality Model for Health (KQMH) HERE and the Joint Health Inspection Checklist (JHIC)

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN ADVANCING MATERNAL, NEWBORN AND CHILD HEALTH 

This award celebrates an innovative initiative geared towards improving maternal, newborn and child health by addressing the major causes of maternal, neonatal and child mortality.

Entries are open health facilities, County Governments and other organizations in the health sector including NGOs.

Entry Guidelines 

  1. Brief introduction.
  2. Clearly defined goals and objectives.
  3. Strategic plan.
  4. Women engagement and empowerment.
  5. Results/outcome.
  6. Evidence of traction, impact and sustainability.
  7. State the duration of the initiative (Start date, end date or ongoing).

This award celebrates innovativeness in improving access to quality mental health care that is affordable; along with raising awareness on mental health and wellbeing to reduce stigma and discrimination in society and the work place.

Entries open to health facilities, County Governments and other organizations in the health sector including NGOs.

HEALTH FACILITY INNOVATION PROJECT OF THE YEAR

The award honours health facilities with sustainable innovative projects, aimed at improving efficiency and quality in service delivery.

Entries are open to all Public, Private, Faith based and not for profit health facilities.

  2. Clearly defined project objectives.
  3. The beneficiaries.
  4. Strategies used to achieve the objectives.
  5. Project’s achievements and contributions to the community.
  6. Evidence of project sustainability.
  7. Impact on healthcare.

YOUNG INNOVATORS AWARD

This award is for an outstanding healthcare research or practical project by a student or group of students. Entries are open to students in colleges and universities to acknowledge, encourage and promote innovation and positive achievements by young people in training.

  5. Support materials if necessary.

HEALTH PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 

This award goes to a health professional who has made outstanding contributions in improving patient safety and quality of care through innovative approaches in their area of expertise.

Entries are open to practicing health professionals in Kenya. Nomination of colleagues is allowed.

  2. Challenge(s) being addressed.
  3. Innovative approaches applied to address the challenge(s).

  5. Results/outcomes achieved.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

This Prestigious award goes to a health professional who has made contributions of outstanding significance to the Kenyan healthcare throughout their professional tenure.

Entries open to all Health professionals in Kenya.

  1. Brief biography and MUST be over 60 years of age.
  2. Outstanding contributions made by the nominated individual.
  3. Impact of their contributions.

 

USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE PATIENT CARE

This award is for the innovative use of Information Technology to improve patient care. 

Entries are open to counties, health facilities, diagnostic service providers and organizations in the health sector either public, private, faith-based or not for profit.

  3. The beneficiaries.
  4. Strategies used to achieve the objectives.

  6. Evidence of traction, Impact and sustainability.

 

AWARD OF MEDIA EXCELLENCE IN PROMOTING HEALTH AND WELL BEING

This award recognizes the best use of print, TV, radio or digital media platforms to promote health and general well being as outlined in SDG 3 targets.

The content should be evidence based, logical and insightful. 

Entries are ONLY open to media practitioners and media companies in Kenya.

Entry Guidelines 

  1.  Detailed description of the work submitted.
  2. The objectives of the work submitted for instance to educate the public, create awareness on current health issues or encourage policy change.
  3. The target audience.
  4. Outcomes and impact on healthcare.
  5. Indicate the start date, end date or whether the publication or programme is ongoing.
  6. Attach support documents i.e article, audio or video.

(The video/audio should NOT be more than 5 minutes long, upload on YouTube and submit the link)

 

BEST USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN HEALTHCARE

This award recognizes the best use of social media in a healthcare campaign. 

Entries are open to health facilities, health professionals and organizations in the health sector including NGO’s and Pharmaceutical companies

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN IMPROVING ACCESS TO MEDICAL PRODUCTS, VACCINES AND TECHNOLOGIES

This award honors excellence in ensuring equitable access to affordable medical products, vaccines and technologies that are safe, effective and of assured quality and supporting their rational/appropriate use.

Entries are open to organisations in the public and private sector.

  3. Stringent measures taken to ensure equitable access to quality, safe, effective, and affordable medical products, vaccines and/or technologies.

HEALTHCARE FINANCING INNOVATION AWARD

The award honors sustainable health financing innovations aimed at ensuring that people have access to quality healthcare without the risk of financial hardships as well as improving efficiency and transparency in resource utilization.

Entries are open to health facilities, County Governments and health insurance providers.

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR WOMEN LEADING CHANGE IN HEALTHCARE

This prestigious award recognizes and celebrates female health professionals who have made remarkable contributions within organizations or in government to drive positive transformation in the health sector. The award aims to underscore the importance of women's representation and active engagement in health sector leadership, aligning with the UHC Political Declaration and SDG 5 on Gender Equality. Despite constituting 70% of the global health workforce, women hold only 25% of healthcare leadership positions. This award seeks to address this disparity, inspire more women to lead and accelerate the full and effective participation of women in leadership at all levels of decision-making in health.

Entries are open to female leaders in the National Government, County Government, health facilities and other organizations in the health sector either public, private, faith-based or Not for profit.

COUNTY WITH THE BEST-MANAGED HEALTHCARE

This award recognizes and honors efforts made by counties towards the provision of innovative and quality healthcare services to the population. 

Entries are open to all the 47 Counties in Kenya.

  2. Human resource for health management.
  3. Patient centered healthcare service delivery.
  4. Innovations in healthcare financing
  5. Measures taken to ensure availability of pharmaceutical commodities
  6. Proper health information management. 

 

NURSING AND MIDWIFERY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

This one off Prestigious award goes to a nurse or midwife who has made contributions of outstanding significance to the Kenyan healthcare throughout their professional tenure as we celebrate the year of the nurse and midwife. 

Entries are open to all nurses and midwives in the public and private sector.

COUNTY INNOVATION PROJECT OF THE YEAR

The award honors a county with an innovative and sustainable initiative that ensures healthy communities and promotes well-being for all citizens. The initiative can address one or more SDG 3 targets.

Entries are open to all Counties.

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN ADVANCING SUSTAINABILITY IN HEALTHCARE 

This award seeks to celebrate excellence in advancing environmentally sustainable practices in healthcare to create resilient and sustainable health systems for the benefit of both current and future generations. The health sector can mitigate climate change in order to continue providing quality care by adopting environmentally sustainable practices including but not limited to: conserving water, recycling, using sustainable energy, reducing food waste, reducing waste management risks, minimizing air pollution and greenhouse gas emission, prioritizing health promotion and disease prevention, or efficient management of resources.

Entries are open to all counties, health facilities and organizations/companies in the health sector either public, private, faith based or Not for profit.

JUDGING PROCESS 

A multistakeholders jury will be responsible for the judging process to ensure there is integrity, inclusion, credibility and transparency.

 

The independent judging panel will review award entries and shortlist the finalists. This will be followed by further scrutiny of the finalists to determine the winners.

 

The award winners will be announced during the award ceremony on April 5 2024.
